I have been creating for over 35 years and draw inspiration from the Combines of Robert Rauschenberg. Like him, my preference is to work with materials that are found or recycled. My oeuvre tends to combine at least two dissimilar materials in a way that brings out the beauty of the other. My work is reminiscent of the human condition where layers and reflections can compliment, contrast or punctuate differences. The combinations I create are intended to echo these human relationships. Whether walking the beach where I grew up near Galveston Island, or now on Kodiak Island, I have always returned to the water. The ocean grounds me, and its colors are my works.
