Fireflower Pottery is a new business for ceramic art which I built in my home over the last few years. I am so excited to finally have the ability to create finished products and share them with the community. I love to make beautiful things which also serve a purpose, and my themes are almost always inspired by Alaska wilderness. My pieces are hand thrown on the pottery wheel or hand built and then carved. Carving is my favorite part of the process. My kiln is propane fueled, which makes the firing process a bit of an art in itself, and one I am still learning. Every firing is an adventure and each time I open the kiln is a surprise. At the moment I use low fire clays and oxide slips as well as some low fire glaze. As I learn, I hope to expand into higher firing ranges and more useful item beyond flower pots and vases.
